Robert W. Dennis, 93, of Indianapolis, formerly of Carmel and Westfield, passed away November 11, 2017. He was born in Hagerstown on November 17, 1923, son of Russell and Anna Bowman Dennis.
Bob owned Dennis Appliance Service for 40 years before retiring. In 2003 he moved to Sanders Glen Senior Living in Westfield where he enjoyed singing in the choir, attending Bible Study and other activities. Because Bob was a caring person, strong in his faith, he quickly made many friends.
In 2015, Bob became a resident at Evergreen Crossing and the Loft in Indianapolis where he also touched the hearts of other residents as well as staff.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Chamberlin Dennis; daughter, Rosalie Dennis; son, Rodney Dennis and sisters, Mary Catherine Beeson and Elizabeth Evelyn Weaver.
Survivors include his sons, Randall (Susan) Dennis, DeWayne (Anita) Dennis and Russell (Sharon) Dennis; daughter-in-law, Judy Dennis; 13 grandchildren, Clarke Dennis, Angie Stahl, Cordy Dennis, Rosalie Baker, Brandon Dennis, Aileen McDivitt, Nathan Dennis, Kendra Felix, Christy Chapman, Julia Johnson, Sonya Evans, Craig Dennis, Kendra Dennis; and 23 great-grandchildren, Otto Heffelmire, Owen Heffelmire, Caden Dennis, Carli Dennis, Cavin Dennis, Chase Baker, Liliana Baker, Hannah Dennis, Ethan Dennis, Caleb Dennis, Tiernan McDivitt, Ashton McDivitt, Ella McDivitt, William Dennis, Jenna Dennis, Mitchell Chapman, Alton Chapman, Elisha Johnson, Levi Johnson, Madeline Evans, Lucas Evans, Lucy Evans, and Paxton Dennis.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 4-7 pm in Westfield Friends Church, where Bob had been a long time active member. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11 am in the church with calling 1 hour prior. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm in Brick Church Cemetery, Hagerstown.
