Beneta J. McConnell, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away November 18, 2017. She was born on September 27, 1925 in Carmel, daughter of Edgar and Anna Wilson Cotton.
Beneta was a 1943 graduate of Carmel High School and then graduated Butler University in 1947 where she was a member of the Welwyn Club and YMCA. In her younger years, Beneta worked for Browns Pharmacy in Carmel. She also worked at Butler University, L.S. Ayres and Wm. H. Block Company. For more than 25 years, Beneta worked at Community Hospital East as well as Free Methodist Street Church. She continued volunteering at the church office before retiring in1991.
In addition to her parents, Beneta was preceded in death by her son Kevin H. McConnell and sister, Marion L.Cotton.
Survivors include granddaughter, Lisa (James) Dubose of Otto, NC; grandson, Ryan (Justyn) McConnell of West Palm Beach, FL; great-grandson, Chandler Dubose of Otto, NC; great-granddaughter, Sara McConnell of West Palm Beach, FL;brother, Jay Cotton of Carmel; sister, Clella (Jim) Lewis of Carmel; daughter-in-law, Jean McConnell of West Palm Beach, FL; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Family Gathering will be held in Bussell Family Funerals. A Committal Service for family and friends will take place in Carmel Cemetery at 12:30 pm, Friday, November 24, 2017 where Beneta will be laid to rest next to her parents and sister.
